Cicada (Cicada mordoganensis)

Widely known for its peculiar rattling heard on most summer days. The genus Cicada is distributed throughout the Mediterranean basin and includes seven species. In Greece the most common species is C. orni, while C. cretensis, from Crete, has only been recently described. C. mordoganensis is a Turkish species, but its range extends to the large islands of the eastern Aegean.
