The isopod Dolichopoda paraskevi

This cave dwelling isopod is endemic to Crete. The genus Dolichopoda ranges over the northern and eastern Mediterranean basin, where it is represented by some 30 taxa. Of them, 21 can be found in Greece; they are not strictly troglobite, except for the endemic taxa of Crete and Naxos (D. naxia). Dolichopoda can see, so they hunt at all levels of the cave, not only in the deepest chambers.
