Drinking from the bi plant

The tuber of Raphionacme burkei, known to the San people as "Bi", is particularly important as a source of water in the dry late winter months. The tuber is scraped, and the shavings are squeezed while holding the fist above one's upturned face, with the thumb pointing down. Thus, the whitish juice runs down the thumb into one's open mouth.
